PANSW was formed in 1920, with the NSW Police Force in its present form established by statute in 1862.
It currently has around 16,500 members, represented by Branches situated throughout the state. Each Branch elects an Administrator, a Chairperson and numerous Vice Chairpersons.
Branches exercise strategic decision-making direction and control at each Biennial Conference, held every alternate year in May.
Since its inception, PANSW has consistently strived to improve members’ wages and working conditions.
