Ian Ball’s (Eyeball) involvement in the Police Association dates back to 1985 when he became a branch official. In 1995 he was elected to the Executive and in 2001 was elected the Police Association’s 17th president, a position he held until 2004. A keen unionist, Ian strove to increase member participation through branch activity. He was also interested in operational policing and police leadership and believed that the Association had a major role to play in affecting reform in both areas. Ian was attested in September 1978 and retired as Ashfield Local Area Commander with the rank of superintendent.
