Edward (Ted) Bassingthwaighte joined the NSW Police Force in August 1987. Ted’s active participation began in 1989 when he was became secretary/delegate for the Wyong Branch. In 1990 he was elected to the Executive, a position he held until 1998. In 1995 he was seconded to the Police Association to work as a researcher monitoring the proceedings of the Wood Royal Commission. He was also a member of the Association’s Royal Commission Response Committee. As a member of the Editorial Committee, Ted was the driving force behind Police News. He was, and continues to be, a regular contributor as a book reviewer and occasional feature writer. Ted retired in July 2008 with the rank of sergeant.
