Charles (Chicka) Connolly was sworn in as a probationary constable in November 1947. After serving 16 years as a police prosecutor, in 1972 he went to the Police Academy first as an instructor on the Detectives’ Course, then as cadet sergeant. In 1975 he became chief instructor. Connolly represented the Academy at Annual Conference from 1972 and in 1973 was elected to the Executive. He retired medically unfit in October 1978 with the rank of sergeant 1st class. He died on 7 December 2002.
