John King began his active involvement with the Police Association in 1981 when he became chairman of the Tactical Response Group and, in 1991, administrator of the Blacktown Branch. In 1994 he was elected to the Executive a position he held until 1998. While on the Executive he represented the Association on a number of Police Service committees including the Standing Firearms Committee. John continued his involvement in the Association until 2006 serving first as an administrator of Riverstone Branch 1995–1996 and then Quakers Hill 1997–2006. He was attested in September 1971 and retired on 19 September 2008 with the rank of sergeant.
