Walter (Wal) Taylor was elected to the position of vice-chairman of the Prosecutors Branch in 1981 and over the next 12 years served as branch secretary, delegate and alternate delegate. In 1988 he was elected to the Executive becoming trustee from 1990–1992 and treasurer 1992–1993. In 1993 he joined the Police Association staff as assistant secretary, Legal and from 1997 until his retirement on 17 August 2001 he was the manager of the Legal Division. A good debater and always the “voice of reason”, he made a valuable contribution to the Police Association in all his roles. Wal was sworn in on 1 November 1965 and resigned on 27 November 1993 with the rank of senior sergeant.
