Our membership covers all ranks of sworn police officers in New South Wales. It is becoming increasingly important that officers have the skills to assist them to manage in this changing environment.
We understand that in order to best represent our membership we need to invest in their development.
Police work can be an immensely rewarding career. Police make a real difference in people’s lives and are an extremely important part of the community. But police work is difficult and challenging and can come at a significant personal cost.
The Career and Resilience Education (C.A.R.E.) program is designed to provide practical skills to build capacity and hardiness among our members. The platform on which the program is based is ‘Building strength through awareness’.
The aim is to provide our membership with opportunities to develop and enhance skills that will not only assist them in their roles as Union Officials but will also advantage them in their day-to-day policing roles.
The C.A.R.E. program is a module-based program designed in alignment with the preventative notion of injury management and professional development. It is designed to assist our members to have long and successful careers and fulfilling personal lives.
The C.A.R.E. program is structured in four stages:
Stage 1 – Personal Resilience Skills
Stage 2 – Workplace Health and Injury Management
Stage 3 – Union Skills
Stage 4 – Executive Training.
The modules within each stage will be offered separately, allowing officers to elect to undertake as many or as little modules as they like. Going forward the program will be available to all police officers, regardless of their rank or position. A component of the program will also be delivered online on the PANSW website for our members to access at any time.
