Car show in aid of Police Legacy

Pheasant Wood Circuit is a brand new motorsport facility located at 8 Prairie Oak Road Marulan.

On 7 November 2020**, the facility is hosting a Police and Emergency Services themed car show to raise funds for NSW Police Legacy and are reaching out to all NSW Police and their families to come along and visit the facility.

The car show is open to all car enthusiasts and various exhibitors and will be promoting the towards zero road safety campaign. All proceeds will go to NSW Police Legacy.

There will be car and motor bike displays, driving demonstrations and various stalls on display during the day.

There also will be raffles and giveaways on offer. Car displays are $40 and motor bikes $20 which will be donated to the NSW Police Legacy charity.

The owner of Pheasant Wood Mr Steve Shelley has a close connection to NSW Police having two cousins who are serving NSW Police Officers and has been very generous in his commitment to NSW Police Legacy.

There are also plans for a Police driver racing only event for the inaugural S/C Jim Affleck trophy to be held on 15 November 2020 where the top 10 NSW Police drivers (on application) will get to race against the Pheasant Wood Circuit “STAG” and “The BOSS” in a controlled and timed event. Pheasant Wood Circuit Marulan is calling all top NSW Police Force drivers who would like to compete in a special event–the Inaugural Jim Affleck Trophy in support of NSW Police Legacy.

The late Senior Constable Jim Affleck VA, who was killed on duty was well known for his superior driving skills and totally professional approach to policing. This memorable event will be held on 15 November 2020

The Pheasant Wood Circuit “top ten” police driver shoot-out event will be an off duty event with tuition and a timed hot lap dash concept that will be using the same car type (TBA) for ten lucky NSW Police Officers.

The fastest timed lap driver will be crowned the winner of the inaugural Jim Affleck Trophy. Jim was considered the most professional and talented driver in the NSW HWP at that time, so it is only fitting that the trophy be named after him.

The winner of the Jim Affleck Trophy will get an additional opportunity to drive a hot lap in a high performance race car (TBA) against the resident hot lap drivers the “STAG” and the “BOSS” (pictured) with a chance to win a Pheasant Wood hot lap experience voucher to the value of $300 for passenger hot laps in one of our historical hot lap race cars (TBA).

Entry is free. However, once their application is approved, the 10 successful applicants will be required to make a $50 donation to NSW Police Legacy. All monies raised by any party for the event will also be donated. All vehicle costs and fuel for the event will be provided by Pheasant Wood.

There will be other prizes on offer (TBA).

So, if you want bragging rights as the NSW Police Force top driver and want to have a red hot go, then answer the following.

a. Do you think you have what it takes to win this event?

b. Do you consider yourself a “top” driver within NSW Police?

c. Are you NSW Police silver certified or higher certification police driver?

d. Do you want to have the bragging rights as the one crowned the Jim Affleck trophy winner?

e. Do you think you can beat the “STAG” or the “BOSS”?

f. If you are one of the top ten chosen will you donate $50 to NSW Police Legacy?

g. Can you drive a manual vehicle?

If you answered yes to all of the above, then in addition state in 25 words or less why you’re one of the best drivers in the NSW Police Force. Email your application to along with your full name, contact phone number, duty type, rank, years of service as well as driving qualifications by 20 October 2020.

Qualifiers will be notified by email on 21 October 2020 to allow for rostering etc. The event is organised by retired senior police officers and all information will remain confidential. No correspondence will be entered into.

The results and the timing and judges result will be final.

A formal presentation of the trophy will be held at the Jim Affleck memorial service on 14 January 2021 at Campbelltown Police Station.
