Association demands extra cops on NSW beat

Kate Shuttleworth, AAP: The Police Association of NSW is pleading with the state government for an extra 2500 frontline officers over the next five years, warning the state risks following Victoria where crime is "out of control".
Association president Scott Weber says the first 500 additional officers are needed on NSW streets by the end of 2018 to stop police reaching "breaking point".
Otherwise, there's a risk NSW could follow Victoria, where crime has risen and the state government has been forced to deploy more than 3000 extra personnel, Mr Weber told reporters in Sydney on Thursday.
