BRISBANE, Nov 5 AAP - It will take a Queensland officer at least six weeks to recover from being stabbed by trespasser at a property north of Brisbane, police say.
The 27-year-old constable, from Brisbane's road policing command, questioned the man who he'd confronted in Deception Bay about 10.30pm on Saturday.
When he tried to arrest the intruder, he was stabbed in the chest a number of times.
His alleged attacker fled in a silver Hyundai hatchback with two other men.
All three are described as being in their late teens or early twenties.
The officer remains in a serious but stable condition at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, police said.
"At this stage he is expected to remain in hospital for three to four days," a spokesman said in a statement.
"His recovery is expected to take at least six weeks."
