The Police Association of NSW welcomes the NSW Government and Opposition's commitment to review and reform bail conditions and laws to ensure victims of domestic violence are protected.

The Labor Government's and the Liberals' and Nationals' bipartisan approach will ensure that this significant review incorporates the scope of ideas and outcomes from across the political spectrum.

The PANSW welcomes The Opposition's suggestions regarding bail reform. This committed approach from both sides of government is required to ensure that this review is appropriately resourced and funded.

PANSW President Kevin Morton said an extended inquiry was necessary to ensure that the issue received the gravity it deserved and that the NSW Government places all impacted areas under the microscope.

"Our police officers need to be supported in protecting victims of domestic violence and bringing perpetrators of repeated violent offenses to justice." He said.

"The Premier has shown great leadership in his proactive approach to addressing this issue along with the Opposition Leader's strong show of support for victims of domestic violence.”

“We encourage this level of bipartisanship to continue as these discussions move forward."
