NSW POLICE OFFICERS RECOGNISED FOR SERVICE WITH HISTORIC PAY RISE

A once-in-a-generation pay increase and enhanced conditions will recognise NSW police officers' professionalism and commitment to service.

The Police Association of NSW (PANSW) worked closely with the NSW Government and the NSWPF to negotiate and formulate the structure of the 2024 Award, which sets out police officers' pay and conditions over the next four years.

Under this agreement:

  • Collapsing of incremental pay scales will see ranks between Probationary Constable and Senior Sergeant receive an increase between 22.3% and 39.4%
  • Senior leaders between the ranks of Inspector and Superintendent will see an increase between 20.5% and 27.1%
  • $5,400 one-off leadership retention payment for senior officers
  • Field Training allowance for officers training the next generation of police
  • Increase in shift allowances, Special Duties allowances and more

A record-breaking number of PANSW members have supported the offer, with 96% of respondents voting yes.

At the PANSW 2024 Conference, NSW Premier Chris Minns committed that the offer will be back-dated from 1 July 2024.

PANSW President Kevin Morton said that the NSW Government has shown police officers the respect they deserve for their tireless service to the people of NSW.

"Despite the challenges faced with staffing shortages, the professionalism of our police officers has been recognized with a once-in-a-generation pay rise."

"Enhanced pay and conditions will reward and retain our long-serving officers, encouraging them to take on new challenges through training and retention payments."

"With recruitment on the rise, we hope this offer will attract our future police officers to this unique profession."
